Hi. CrispLeaf is finally up! It's quite empty for now but I'm sorting through my files as fast as I could so that I could put more summaries. I just realized that making summaries is not easy at all! It's very difficult especially if I wanted to be very detailed about it. The preparations took me a long time. Well mostly because I keep changing my mind on the layout. Finally CrispLeaf is online and I'd like to thank Tabulas for the blogging service. By the way this is a paid account. There are lots of features that you could enjoy when you sign up for a patron account. And it's quite cheap! Next week the domain name, [ crispleaf.COM ], will be up as well, thanks to WEB.com.ph. I sincerely hope by that time I'll be able to speed things up. I want my blog to be more than just a place where I can rant as much as I want, but also a site where people go for stuff. Such big dreams.
You may be wondering where the heck did I get the title "CrispLeaf". Well, I've been really fond of autumn for a long time. I love the early months before winter, before the cold nights and colder mornings. I love the brown color, and the whole idea of earth preparing to sleep. Whenever I think of autumn, I imagine a pile of dead leaves crunching beneath my feet. Branches snapping and trees howling with the wind. Leaves, when dead, are crisp, and this crispness is the thing I like the most about autumn. It's weird. But I like it. So anyway, I'm going to rest for a while. It gets tiring when you work for 10 hours straight. ^_^
The story starts with Light Yagami finding a black notebook entitled "Deat Note" inside the school premises. He picked it up and thought of it as prank, but eventually decided to take it home. The first page of the notebook is a written instruction in English. It read: "The human whose name is written in this note shall die. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected. If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds." Upon reading this Light found himself writing Kurou Otoharada, a criminal presently being flashed on the television. Forty seconds later, the reporter said the man suddenly collapsed. Light was intensely surprised, but he wanted to prove the notebook's authenticity one more time. He went out tested it on another criminal; a thug he saw harassing a woman in front of a store. The man was hit by a truck forty seconds later after Light wrote down his name. Five days later Light met Ryuk for the first time, the Shinigami (Death God) who created Death Note. The two of them crossing paths because of the Death Note was not by destiny or fate; yet both of them shared one feeling: boredom. More importantly though, this was the chance for Light to change the world and establish justice. Name after name, he started his little crusade against evil.
The mysterious and massive deaths of criminals finally caught the attention of ICPO (International Criminal Police Organization). Clueless, they turned to "L" for help, an individual whose face and identity is unknown to them. It was said that L prided himself for solving hard cases which the police could not handle by themselves. Meanwhile, Light devised a way to hide his Death Note when he learned from Ryuk that, except for Light, anyone else who touches the notebook will be able to see him. He also showed Ryuk websites and forums created by other people, who, like the ICPO, started noticing his work. They named him "Kira" (the Japanese pronunciation for killer). Thousands of them are now supporting his pledge. What Light did not know is that "L" is already on the move. Later that day the police broadcasted their intent to capture "Kira", with L's face on the screen. Light fell to his trap. Driven by fear and anger of calling him "evil", Light wrote L's name on his death note. The man on the screen died, yet as it turned out, he was not L, but another criminal on death row. This gave L hints on Light's methods of murder. He also told Light that the broadcast was not really international as the police said, but only in Kanto, Japan. Right there and then, as people watched, the fight between Kira and L began.
The investigation continues. L now suspects Kira is a student. Light's father, Soichiro Yagami, happened to be the head of the investigating team, and because of this, Light was able to access his father's records through his own computer. That night he learned about L's suspicions of him and the progress of their investigation. To refute that, Light started killing criminals by the hour, and straight from the prison which lead L to believe that Light has access to police records, and more importantly, that "Kira" can determine the time of death. L now turns to the police department itself, contemplating on the theory that the culprit may be a part of the team. With distrust established, Light now feels confident that he will be able to outwit L and slay him. That afternoon on the way home Ryuk said that someone has been following Light. When they got home, Ryu explained more about his powers as a Shinigami. Light found out that through a Shinigami's eye he could see the name and the life expectancy of a human being. With that power a Shinigami can increase his own lifespan by decreasing the years of a man's expected existence through the Death Note. This revelation became more interesting when Ryuk suggested that he could let Light borrow his "eyes", but only on the condition that Ryuk will get fifty percent of Light's remaining lifespan. Eyes glinting, Light is ready to make his decision.
Light did not accept Ryuk's deal, only because he doesn't want to shorten his life when he's already the "new god" who needs more time to "clean" the world. At this point Light is now ready to "kill" the criminals using different methods as suggested by Death Note's instructions. He discovered that he could describe not only the way of death but also control the actions of the criminals prior to their death. Through several tests on different culprits Light was able to realize the limitations of Death Note. Satisfied, he now turns his full attention on his stalker (from episode three). To know his name, Light devised a scheme using a criminal (Osoreda Kiichirou), who during those days was out on the loose and a girl classmate (Yuri-chan), who Light invited for a date to Space Land. The stalker (Rey Penbar) followed them silently. A few hours later the criminal hijacked the bus the three took on the way to Space Land. Penbar, who sat behind Light and Yuri-chan, was finally convinced that Light could not be Kira, since if he was, he could have easily killed the man. In front of him he watched Light show Yuri-chan a note saying "i will try to take Osoreda". Penbar argued on this. Feigning distrust, Light asked for his identification to prove that he's not an accomplice. Without hesitation Penbar showed his wallet with an FBI emblem, his picture, and of course, his complete name. The scheme was almost over. Light "accidentally" dropped a piece of paper which Osoreda picked up angrily. It was a torn part from Death Note. Upon touching this he saw Ryuk and gone mad. He ran to the driver and ordered him to stop the bus. At exactly 11:45 am, Osoreda jumped off crazily and was hit by a car.
The hunter now becomes the hunted. Rey Penbar is no longer on Light's tail, however Light decides the game is far from over. Through another scheme he eliminated not just Penbar but the whole FBI team sent to Japan. Originally it had been L's idea to use the agency to track the people connected to the police force who may have access to their records. When the director of FBI found out about the deaths, he decided to pull their hands off the case. The investigating team was not aware of such operation and when the reports came in, Yagami was furious. Distrust now exists between L and the police department. But not only that. When they learned that "Kira" is now targeting not just criminals but also those who oppose him, they decided to resign with fear for their lives and their families. Only five remained, including Light's father. With that settled, L decides it's time to show his true identity. Meanwhile, somewhere, a woman with a broken heart is on the move to find Kira. She's determined to avenge the death of Rey Penbar, her fiancee.
Exciting progress! L finally reveals himself to the remaining 5 policemen determined to catch "Kira". The group started discussing Kira's recent activities, and little by little they are closing on Kira's true identity. But not any closer than Maki Shouko, Rey Penbar's fiancee. She arrived at the police headquarters seeking for the team who handles Kira's case. With her she holds a very valuable information that may pull the case into a different course. Unfortunately she meets Light first when he coincidentally dropped by the headquarters with clothes for his father. Without hesitations, she told him her theories about the whole bus-jacking incident and how Rey had to show his identification to the passengers to gain their trust. She believed that it was the only way for Kira to know FBI was also hard on the case. Light was intensely surprised on how much she knew, yet he was pleased for meeting her first before anyone else. Will he kill her too? Oh my, we hope not! ^_^
hi! just made a page: fansub guide & groups. i admit that the progress on building this site is very slow. i don't have much visitors too [ which is sad and depressing ]. i hope though that when i buy the domain and promote it through ym, friendster and my forums, people will take a look at it. XD
well, time to sleep now. oyasumi.
I have never really thought about it, but Light doesn't smile that much, does he? Alright, I understand that given the situations that he kills people, it obviously doesn't fit his character to flash his teeth. but then, prior to discovering death note, he already had that darkness around him. But what was it exactly about his past that made Light who he is at present? Although it's probably too early for me to ask for more character development when I'm only as far up to the seventh episode. For now Light is simply the punisher. As I'm typing all these I realized I'm hating Light more and more. I wish there was something to love about him. A little of that bittersweet feeling. Yet all I get is plain bitterness.
It has already been decided before the end of Episode 6 that Light will try to get rid of Maki. In Episode 7 we get to see the actual execution. Light pulls out a piece of death note paper and pretends to ask Maki for more details regarding her theory. In truth, he was actually writing down Maki's name and her way of death: suicide. With that accomplished, Light told her that he will forward the information to his father. But Maki wasn't the one to give up. She was still determined to talk with the cops. During this time Ryuk was smirking. Back in the hotel L distributed badges and fake IDs to the members of the police group handling Kira's case. Watari also revealed himself. It surprised them that the spokesperson of L was actually a very old man who could pass for L's butler. L reminded them that they should only use such IDs for emergency purposes. They were also given utility belts which contain transmitters that allow L know their present location. Aside from that, these belts, when pressed twice at the buckle, will trigger a ring straight to Watari's cellphone. Light finally realizes that Maki gave a false name. As they were heading back to the police station and Light was running out of time, he suddenly stopped her and asked her more questions, prying..probing, but not entirely making himself any more suspicious. Maki then mentioned that she was an FBI agent like her fiancee. That small opening gave Light hope. Light lied that he was actually a member of the investigation team and told her that the cops will not allow anyone to be near them. But with Light's help and recommendation, Maki may join the team. She seemed surprised at this proposition, but nevertheless, interested. Carefully, he asked for Maki's identification. Maki was embarrassed and finally told him that she gave him a fake name. A Japanese driver's license was all it took. Her name was Naomi Misora. Light reveals himself to Naomi. But it was too late. At the strike of his watch, through the will that was re-written in the Death Note, Naomi's eyes turned blank. She completely lost her interest in the case and walked away... silently ... with nothing to look forward to but death.
hi. just created another page @ content menu -- playback support & video players. just a little help for new anime downloaders. ^^

i have one qualification though:
We should have the same theme. your site should either be: - an anime blog or - an anime-related site/blog so that's it. you may now post a comment [ include your name, e-mail address & website URL ] if you wish to advertise your blog/site through mine. ^^ remember to link me back as well! Thanks!

the first sub-category i created under this menu is greek mythology. included here is my first greek mythology fiction which i entitled "feodor & ianthe". i hope you'll like it. i made this story out of my concept on Gods playing with humans' hearts and destinies. it's a tragic love story. ^^ thanks.
i am so far behind! it's episode 19 already ^^
OK, this episode was fun because Ryuk showed a bit of his cheerful, more humanly self. Speaking of humanly, L eats green ice cream! I wonder what flavor is green though. Perhaps.. avocado? Anyway, I also think that L likes ice cream, because he eats it on a sugar-flavored cone! ^^ Let's move on with the summary. The story starts with L's group watching the video tapes which covered the deaths of the FBI agents. Curiously, L focused more on Rey Penbar when he noticed the suspicious "envelope" he was holding prior to his death and its disappearance when Penbar died at the platform of a train station. L became even more suspicious at the sudden news of Naomi's disappearance. He argued that she was a competitive FBI agent and instead of disappearing, she would probably hunt down her fiancee's killer. The thought of Kira being behind all these played inside L's mind. He then decided to focus only on the people Penbar was investigating, the family of sub-chief Kitamura and the family of the police chief, Yagami Souichirou. He instructed them to install wiretaps and video surveillance cameras inside their families' homes. At first they were against L's plan, as they would surely lose their jobs for breaching privacy rights. L argues, however, that when they pledged to hunt Kira down, they have already put their jobs and lives at risk. Okay, L is so cool when he's like that. ^^ Light cannot be fooled though. He knew already that people were inside his room through the position of his doorknob and the broken piece of lead from a mechanical pencil inserted through the hinges of a closed door where they would surely break when someone opens the door. Light smartly realized that there may already be "bugs" too. So Light asked Ryuk to find all the cameras in exchange of apples. It seemed Ryuk likes eating apple a lot. The problem though is he can only make the apples invisible when he's eating them, but not when he's simply holding them. It would be such a shock when they see apples floating in the air! Ryuk had no choice but to do what Light says. Death God or not, he does have his own addictions in life. Light is determined to show L that he cannot be simply outwitted. Late that night he grabbed a bag of potato chips and pretended he needed the junk food for overtime study. No one knew, even L, that Light has thought of a scheme to pull the investigating team's eyes off the Yagami residence. While Ryuk reported the 64 cameras he discovered, Light used his right hand to write equations for his study, while his left hand wanders inside the bag of chips to write death. A piece of death note paper was inside the bag with a portable, very small LCD television. Alternating with a piece of chip he wrote the names of the criminals he wanted dead. No one will surely suspect he could be Kira when he's simply "studying" while criminals die by the hour. Does Light think L is truly convinced? The episode ended with L closely watching L play them for fools with his potato chips and wicked heart.
