As promised, here's Younha's first Korean album for your listening pleasure. Note that this is for evaluation purposes only, if you like her songs, you can buy her CD from Yesasia.com (because I'm not sure if the studio distributes in our country too, but if you'd like to try, I suggest that you visit Tower Records).

The Perfect Day to Say I Love You was released on March 15, 2007 (on my mum's birthday!), distributed by Seoul Records. On June 28, 2007, a special edition of her first album titled "Younha Vol.1 Repackage Album - The Perfect Day to Say I Love You" was released. This edition comes with a photo book and the inclusion of three new tracks, one of which is a Korean version of her 2005 single My Lover. [ Wikipedia ]

My current favorites are Password 486, Love Condition and Fly.

Full Episode Title: Massacre Chapter (Minagoroshi-hen) - Part Four: Negotiation

This episode was not very entertaining for me because of two things. One, it completely dragged the arc; and two, Satoko's back to her whining self. It's not believable that her strong character will succumb to her uncle's blackmail. What about her skills on strategy? She could outwit Keiichi in their club activities, considering that Keiichi was born a genius. If she had really not wanted to be beaten up by Teippei, she could have done something to save herself. I know this sounds unfair and judgmental, but I believe that people who can't help themselves do not deserve to be helped by others.

Since there are only two episodes left in Devil May Cry, I thought of adding a new series on my current watchlist, however there isn't any title worth watching this season. If you can recommend some, I'd like to hear from you. ^_^

On the other hand, ep 10 is rather disappointing. I thought this will stretch on until the final episode but in the end it was just another "short story". Although it's natural for one to side with the protagonist, having him win all the time is actually boring. Trish and Lady made small appearances too. I thought something special was about to happen. Well, obviously I thought wrong.

This episode had more battle scenes than necessary. Although it was enjoyable, it sort of neglected the other important events, such as Raki's appearance in Pieta and Jean's supposedly survival (she was only given a three-second screen time).

Ligardes' method of ending the battle - lifting a boulder, is a bit out of place and idiotic too. How can he possibly kill a warrior by simply throwing a large stone? Claymore (anime) is turning out a disappointment but I guess this is expected, considering the adaptation of the epic manga was really only planned for 26 episodes. The animators had to cut it somewhere. Turns out, the cut left a big, open wound for us manga readers.

So anyway, this title has three more episodes to go. Thanks for watching with me!

Full Episode Title: Tyrant ~ The Buried Past ~ A Fate Shrouded in Darkness.

I honestly enjoyed this episode. The revelations are not at all expected! Such wicked, wicked twists! Unfortunately though, since I kind of lagged two or three weeks ago, I needed to review the past episodes to familiarize myself with the present events. So it took some time before I finished writing today's review. There may be mistakes as well, so sorry about that.

Here's a list of the upcoming anime series this fall/autumn season. Will provide more details as sources become available. Personally, I'm looking forward to watching the following titles: Myself; Yourself, You're Under Arrest! FT, Genshiken 2nd Series, Clannad, Shakugan no Shana II, and Suteki Tantei Labyrinth.

This season looks promising. Unfortunately, I have yet to know which fansub group is taking which, but I'm pretty sure three or four groups will be competing on the much-awaited Gundam 00 and Shakugan no Shana II series. These will be added in my review list. I'm thinking of taking Blue Drop as well, though I'm not sure if I can easily handle a yuri series. Lastly, there's Shion no Ou. The story is intriguing, plus Studio Deen (Rurouni Kenshin, Fate/Stay Night) will be producing it.

This episode is not the most exciting in the series but since it's the eleventh installment the animators have to put in "jump-to-the-shark" scenes. To tell you honestly, I was really disappointed in this adaptation, although I am the one at fault here for expecting that the story will be close to the gameplay.

On another note, Episode 11 has the usual action and mystery elements. Here Patty meets her mother for the first time, but the background behind their separation wasn't explored. The animation was as fluid and as smooth as ever, the music varied from rock to classic and the sequence was very-well arranged. Instead of the usual ending MV, there was a short and soundless preview of the final episode.

Full Episode Title: Massacre Chapter (Minagoroshi-hen) - Part Six: Confrontation

Sorry for the late release as I'm way too busy with work. Fortunately, despite the hectic schedule, I managed to write an acceptable summary for this episode, albeit a short one. Confrontation was a very hopeful episode, and it made my gloomy spirit lift a little.

Anyway, there are a few things I'd like to raise while I'm at it. In this episode, Rika told Keiichi that "the worst kind of situation would be a world in which you never transferred here". I'm pretty sure that there was never an arc in the anime where Keiichi wasn't at all present and I'm extremely curious how the rest of the characters played in this Keiichi-less world. The fact that Rika mentioned this may mean that we may actually see what it's like in the later part of the story. Another thing is Satoshi's room. I really am curious what's inside it plus the never ending question: when will that boy ever return?!

Lastly, Oryou's sudden interest in Keiichi. He got her affection too easily. Way too easily. If anyone's more sinister and demonic than Shion, it would be this Onibaba. Remember that time when she made Shion redeem herself by plucking her fingernails out?

Overall, this episode is great, although by saying this I feel like I made it sound ordinary. Anyway, I've got tons of work to do tomorrow so I'm off to bed now.

This is a very good ending for a quite disappointing series. Enough action, enough drama, enough suspense. Overall I'd say Devil May Cry is a good series to watch for those who have the time. Non-gamers need not worry, as very few game references were included in the anime.

I'll make this short. I'm giving EP 12 a hundred percent! Thank you for watching this series! No wait -- thanks for watching Dante!!

Priscilla vs Clare. This is the type of ending I'm waiting for. Heck, this is the ending everyone is waiting for! So this leaves quite a burden to the animators. I hope they don't screw it up.

Episode 24 is basically, the appetizer to the finale -- mostly composed of scattered events all leading to Clare's and Priscilla's battle, which expectedly, had to be put off until episode 25 and 26. Among these events were Galatea's re-appearance as the organization's eye, Jean's determination to save Clare, and Isley's decision to be the audience, yet in his hand he holds an army of demons far greater than Ligardes'.

From here on, every episode is a hundred percent.

Full Episode Title: Massacre Chapter (Minagoroshi-hen) - Part Six: A Strong Will

A very exciting & unpredictable turn in the story. Parts of the mystery behind the origin of the gas leak disaster and the fifth-year murder were revealed in this episode. To make matters more interesting, the culprit behind these two separate events was one of the supporting characters. Typical in any mystery flick but then you wouldn't think it would be this person.

Well, the deal with Satoko vs her hideous uncle is over. That much is certain and I for one am very glad about it. I hate seeing ugly characters in any anime series. A trashbag like Teippei at that. I just found it lame though that Rika didn't try to give her moving speech in the previous worlds and times that she had played the same story. If she had, the village would have probably been saved a long time ago.

On a completely different note, I have an issue with Takano's hentai~ish and high-pitched voice. I thought Ooishi's was the most irritating, but she topped him a hundred times more with her numerous exposure in EP 11. Especially that "Ara~ Ara~" phrase of hers. A total killer.

A downright amazing episode. Yep. Hands down. Obviously the animators know what us Claymore viewers want. I especially liked the last part where they showed Clare's partially-awakened form as seen in the manga (during the Clare-Ligardes battle).

Every scene was exceptional.

Full Episode Title: Aspiration ~ Wishes ~ In Each Heart.

Very romantic. I regret pulling this series off my active watchlist.

Now that I have the motivation to tackle on the minor issues revolving RxJ, I'd like to start with Shakespeare's spoof "gay~ish" character here. Though he often appears in many scenes, he doesn't have much lines to say, so we can assume that he can be neglected any time. In episode 18 though, he was given a major role, and this gave him a lot of exposure to the viewers. His perky attitude was highlighted as well. In that one scene he sort of tickled Curio's arm, like any gay would do in search of love, and Curio had goosebumps all over, obviously disgusted. Nobody in the series actually cried out "Willy is gay!" but then they didn't have to. His character was obviously it. Now, question is, what did the animators have in mind to make Shakespeare's animated character that way?

Honestly, in some Shakespeare's poems he did seem gay, yet the aspect of gay (an identity that one assumes as a result of a certain attraction to members of the same sex) did not exist in the sixteenth century, although it doesn't mean that men and women that time did not engage in any physical relationship among members of the same sex. It's just that these people did not define or identify themselves as a distinct group -- yet.

So going back to the anime, it seemed plausible that the animators only wanted to work on different kinds of characters. One probably said, "I want a homo in the show" and all they had to do was read Shakespeare's poems and decide that he's the perfect guy.

Episode Rating:

Memorable Quote from Episode 18: The stage moves the hearts of the people. For a short period only, many people's hearts can be moved to feel anger, joy, full of hatred or grief! And so, in the right hands, it can become a very dangerous weapon - Willy.

Full Episode Title: Inheritance ~ The Wind of Hope ~ If Any Will, We Will.

A definite must-see. There were no wasted scenes and if I'm right, the animation has improved a great deal. I like how Juliet has become this motivated after being love-sick for so long. And she cosplayed as Zorro again. In other words, more action in the future.

I kind of miss Tybalt though. After that dark revelation, I had hoped he'll have more screen time than the other characters. That, and because I simply love him. He's far sexier than loverboy Francisco. Anyway, I'm sure he'll turn up soon. And I have a strong feeling that something bad is going to happen to him -- with all that angst inside.

Well, an easy hundred percent. Will write EP 20 and 21 soon!

Memorable Quote from Episode 19: The fighting will soon be over, and so will this hatred -- Juliet

I'm so disappointed that I had to laugh!!!

The animators obviously ran out of ideas on how to end the series so they made up some crappy stuff like ghost appearances, Clare's suddenly sweet smiles, and the suggestive "maybe another round?" idea. The final episode lacked everything I had hoped for. Nothing was ever concluded and even if Raki could say that "Priscilla lost her family to Yoma too," does not change the fact that she deserves to die, be in Clare's hands or another's. She ate an entire town, for cryin' out loud. An antagonist like that deserves more than a crucifixion.

Yet, the anime series had to end somewhere, no matter how much I babble on the greatness of the manga and how this and that should have been animated. Despite the fact that little sense could find its way through my muffled, prejudiced thoughts, it would be just fair to say that the animators still did well in adding life to Yagi-sensei's work. I mean, if not for the anime, I would have never come across the manga. Now that it's ended -- though quite abruptly, it's time for me to assess the overall achievement of the anime and to do this well, I have to put aside my personal opinions. Of course, this is entirely because of the readers of this blog. (are there?) lol.

The animation is excellent, fit for any shounen-related series. The music is not superb but the Irish/Scottish tunes from time to time were very well appreciated. The story is of course, well laid-out. The deviations only started around the 21st episode. The seiyuu cast is alright, though I would say that some characters deserved better seiyuus (Galatea's and Jean's). Character development was perhaps the biggest minus (Isley, Riful, Galatea) but I think the reason behind this is that there were far too many characters doing different things in a short period of time that the animators found it difficult to give any of them sufficient focus and screen time. For this one has to refer to the extra scenes of the manga.

OK, I think I wrote enough. Lastly:

I WILL NOT DISCOURAGE YOU FROM WATCHING THE SERIES. Please do.

Memorable Quote from the final Episode: Teresa... I am alive. Would you tell me that this is alright? -- Clare.

Full Episode Title: An Unwavering Step ~ To Uphold Duty ~ Mission .

I almost forgot that Neo Verona is a floating continent!

This episode is pretty intense because Juliet will be dealing with a much bigger issue. Honestly, I think this anime should have been entitled Juliet (with special appearance of Romeo). You see when I try to compare both characters, Juliet is more developed, more complex, and more fun to watch. Romeo doesn't stand out, he's too feminine and he really says a lot of lame things. His hair should have been black.
